George Baker is on standby to ride Thistle Bird in Sunday's Newbridge Silverware Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

Usually partnered by James Doyle, the mount may be available if Khalid Abdullah's retained jockey is claimed to ride Noble Mission in France.

Thistle Bird's trainer Roger Charlton has used Baker on the mare before, when she won a handicap at Windsor in 2011.

Speaking on his website, the trainer said: "Thistle Bird is all dressed up and packed ready to travel to Ireland to run in the Pretty Polly on Sunday.

"She will be ridden by either James Doyle or George Baker depending whether Noble Mission runs in France on Sunday.

"There are 15 left in the race which include five from Aidan O'Brien's stable, last year's winner Ambivalent and the Irish Guineas winner Marvellous are intended runners, I gather."
