Jockey Brendan Powell has been handed a five-day suspension for his use of the whip aboard Battle Group at the start of the Scottish Grand National at Ayr a fortnight ago.
Having refused to start the Crabbie's Grand National at Aintree a week earlier, the Johnny Farrelly-trained Battle Group planted himself at the start again at Ayr before eventually being encouraged to jump off a long way behind the rest of the field.
The nine-year-old jumped seven fences before being pulled up by Powell.
The British Horseracing Authority disciplinary panel held an inquiry to determine whether Powell was in breach of the rules in respect of the number, rapidity and force with which he used his whip after the gelding showed a reluctance to start the race.
Powell will be out of action on May 3 and May 5-8.
