Trainer Tom Cooper has decided against letting Grade One-winning chaser Lucky William make his return from a lengthy injury lay-off in the Boylesports.com Fortria Chase at Navan on Sunday.

The nine-year-old has not been seen in competitive action since claiming the Ryanair Novice Chase at the 2012 Punchestown Festival and although he is nearing a comeback, Cooper feels his charge needs another couple of weeks.

He said: "He's not going to run on Sunday. He worked on Tuesday and is good in himself, but we just feel he could do with another fortnight.

"We'll try and pick a nice race for him.

"There is a good chance he could start back over hurdles, but we'll see."
