Gordon Lord Byron will head back to Sha Tin in an attempt to improve on his fourth place finish in last year's Hong Kong Mile.

Tom Hogan's dual Group One winner failed to handle the very soft ground at Ascot on Champions Day when only seventh in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

He will also have an entry in the Hong Kong Sprint but at this stage Hogan is favouring another crack at the Mile.

"Gordon Lord Byron came back sound after Ascot, but we once again found out he can't swim," said Hogan.

"We knew after the first two races when the times were very slow that it wasn't going to suit him.

"He'll have the entries for Hong Kong next, the Mile and Sprint.

"I think the Mile will be the best option for him as the Europeans don't have a great record in the Sprint."
