Jim Bolger could run both Loch Garman and Trading Leather in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on 12 May.

Teofilo colt Loch Garman made an impressive debut at Navan in late October last year and then grabbed Group One glory in France just a week later with a determined display in the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud.

Trading Leather won twice from four juvenile appearances and signed off with a decent fifth in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.

Both have yet to appear as three-year-olds, but are currently in the Investec Derby mix.

Bolger said: "It wouldn't surprise me if Loch Garman got the Derby trip and I think Trading Leather will stay a mile and a half, but Kevin (Manning, jockey) and my staff are not so sure about him.

"It would not be ideal, but we may have to run both in the Derrinstown Derby Trial. Trading Leather will be entered in Derby trials in England and it's possible he'll have to travel."

With red-hot 2000 Guineas favourite Dawn Approach and both Leitir Mor entered in the Derby at Epsom in June, Bolger has plenty of options in the mile and a half division, but he is in no rush to make firm plans.

He said: "It's possible that I could have up to four horses that could go for a Derby, and there is always the French Derby for horses that I think may not get a mile and a half.

"But to quote Vincent O'Brien, if you think you have more than one Derby horse you probably don't have one."
