Apprentice Luke Dempsey was taken to hospital for further examination after a nasty-looking fall in the Hen & Stag Packages At Dundalk Stadium Handicap this evening.

Dempsey, who claims 7lb, was aboard the Ted Walsh-trained Toberton in the six-furlong event and appeared to clip heels with eventual winner Sylvan Mist, resulting in the young rider being sent crashing to the ground.

Dempsey received immediate medical attention, after which course doctor John Kennedy said: "Luke is confused and dazed but seems fine otherwise, he has got full use of his arms and legs.

"He wasn't sure which track he was at, but recognised his father (Phil Dempsey).

"He has been taken to Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for further examination."

Toberton suffered an injury which resulted in him being put down.
