Galway set for the day one of the Bank Holiday meeting

Noel Meade has opted to pitch Il Fenomeno into decent company for his first chase outing as he lines up in the Grade Three Faber Audiovisuals Ballybrit Novice Chase at Galway.

A smart hurdler who finished third in Grade One company at Leopardstown last term, he will certainly have to be on his mettle to beat Willie Mullins' Listowel winner Twinlight and Limerick scorer Argocat, who gets plenty of weight from his older rivals.

The meeting gets under way at 1.35 with the Corrib Oil Maiden Hurdle, which gives Rogue Angel a chance to avenge his defeat at Fairyhouse.

Mouse Morris's charge crossed the line first that day, only to lose the race in the stewards' room, and he could have the measure of Bonheur Secret and Holeinthewall Bar.

The CCTV Venue Control Maiden Hurdle should be a very informative affair as it pits bumper winners Minella Reception and Rory O'Moore against one another.

The one to note could be Popmurphy, though, as the former fair Flat operator has performed well in two hurdles this season and showed his best at this track last month.

Skibabe was impressive when scoring at Fairyhouse last time and gets to prove that was no fluke in the Barna Waste Novice Hurdle. A 13-length scorer last time, Charles Byrnes' charge has Landero and Whats Happening to contend with.

King Of Firth has shown enough to suggest his turn won't be far away, but he looks set for a battle with Clar Na Mionn and Send For Mary in the T.V. O'Brien Memorial (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race.

Owennacurra Milan has to lug top weight on his return to action in the Sanserv Handicap Hurdle, which could leave the door open for Flying Light, while the Renvyle House Hotel Handicap Chase could be between Cairdin and Muzak.
