Racing gets green light at Roscommon and Newton Abbot

This afternoon's meeting at Roscommon goes ahead after the track passed an 8am inspection.

Officials called the morning check due to the threat of overnight rain but have been able to give the fixture the thumbs up.

Horse Racing Ireland tweeted: "Roscommon passes this morning's inspection and racing goes ahead. Situation still being monitored."

In England, officials at Newton Abbot cancelled their planned 8am inspection and racing goes ahead.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore had been worried about the prospect of overnight rain on already testing ground.

However, the track saw less rain than was forecast and Loosemore was happy to give the meeting the go-ahead.

The ground is described as soft, heavy in places.
