Galway Hurdle hero Rebel Fitz continued his highly productive summer with an impressive victory in Grade Three company at Cork.

Michael Winters' seven-year-old had only just held on to the big handicap at Ballybrit despite a very confident Davy Russell ride but never looked in much danger on his home track in the JP McManus Hurdle.

Sent off the 4-11 favourite to make it four on the bounce, Rebel Fitz was operating at a different level to come home well clear of Fosters Cross.

Winters said: "Galway genuinely probably came too soon for him after Tipperary (Grimes Hurdle).

"He had a break after Galway and that helped him a bit. I was afraid he would get a bit edgy.

"Davy got it right tactically at Galway but there was no riding on him today. He is improving everyday and he is growing an awful lot.

"He will go for a graded hurdle at Tipperary now in mid-October and if he keeps doing what he is doing over hurdles, he will be kept over them."
