Alain de Royer-Dupre's Narniyn continued her progression when winning the Group Three Prix La Coupe at Longchamp.

The daughter of Dubawi had won her last three races, progressing through the ranks each time.

The four-year-old was winning at Group Three level for the second time and beat stablemate Ipswich by half a length on her seasonal bow, holding on under strong pressure having found herself in front some way out.

Ocovango, fifth in the Derby at Epsom last year, could only finish third, while Belle De Crecy, such an improver when trained by Johnny Murtagh in 2013, was tailed off under Frankie Dettori on her second start for Criquette Head-Maarek.

Royer-Dupre said: "Narniyn is a filly who we have always thought of highly.

"Ipswich surprised us a lot as we think she will be better in the autumn."
