French 1000 Guineas heroine Avenir Certain will aim for a Classic double in this weekend's Prix de Diane at Chantilly instead of heading to Royal Ascot next week.
Jean-Claude Rouget's filly stretched her unbeaten record to four with a brilliant display in last month's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, and although she holds an entry in the Coronation Stakes she will instead step up in distance for the French Oaks.
Rouget said: "She will not be going to Ascot. The plan is for her to run in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly on Sunday."
The Rouget-trained Lesstalk In Paris, who was favourite for the French Guineas but finished a long way behind her lesser-fancied stable companion, is also engaged in the Coronation Stakes but Rouget said her participation is undecided.
The Pau-based trainer has also made plans for his exciting colt Prince Gibraltar, who met trouble in running on his way to finishing a close third behind Kevin Ryan's British raider The Grey Gatsby in the French Derby (Prix du Jockey Club).
"He is fine and was a bit unlucky at Chantilly. We are aiming towards the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp," said Rouget.
