Dragon Pulse got up right on the line to end Dabirsim's unbeaten run in the Prix de Fontainebleau at Longchamp.

Formerly trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington, Dragon Pulse is now with Mikel Delzangles, who sent out Makfi to land the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in 2010.

The Christophe Ferland-trained Dabirsim, winner of all five starts as a juvenile, the last two of which were in Group One company under Frankie Dettori, was being ridden by Christophe Soumillon for the first time.

He was very keen in the early stages, but looked to have the field covered when moving smoothly to the front, with Soumillon checking over both shoulders for dangers.

However, Dragon Pulse had himself quickened into contention, and despite Soumillon immediately getting serious the Delzangles had the momentum and put his head in front where it mattered.

Earlier on the card, Soumillon partnered Elie Lellouche’s Beauty Parlour to victory in the Prix de la Grotte.

The daughter of Deep Impact cruised away from her rivals in the final furlong to win by a cosy four and a half lengths.
