Heavy rain claims cards at Wincanton and Hereford
Updated: Wednesday, 21 Nov 2012 17:45 | Comments
Thursday’s National Hunt meetings at meetings at Wincanton and Hereford have been lost due waterlogging.
Hereford clerk of the course Keith Ottesen announced a lunchtime inspection on Wednesday morning following persistent rain, and to make matters worse a culvert (a type of drain) that runs through the centre of the course has burst.
Ottesen has had little option but to call off proceedings.
Wincanton clerk of the course Barry Johnson initially called an inspection for raceday morning after substantial overnight rain.
However, he brought that check forward to 12.30pm on Wednesday following further rain, before eventually calling the meeting off around 12 noon.
