Master frightens off serious rivals

Master Minded looks like only having a couple of serious rivals on his return to the racecourse in Saturday's totepool Game Spirit Chase at Newbury.

The winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase for the last two years is one of eight entries for the two-mile-one-furlong event, which was re-opened.

Master Minded was found to have a broken rib after a defeat to Well Chief at Cheltenham in November and he could take on Voy Por Ustedes, who he beat in the 2008 Game Spirit.

Mahogany Blaze, who split Well Chief and Master Minded in the Connaught Chase, is the only other entry anywhere near the champion on ratings.

Likeable sorts Fix The Rib and Private Be as well as Kinkeel, Mam Ratagan and Tuscany Star are also entered.
