Fairyhouse - Wednesday Preview

The final afternoon of Fairyhouse's two-day midweek meeting starts with the Irish Racing Post Maiden Hurdle at 1.40.

Jessie Harrington's Colleoni sets the standard, given that he actually broke his duck at Thurles, albeit with a share of the spoils, before losing it in the stewards' room.

The only serious threat, at least on paper, would appear to be Fully Funded, who finished third behind Rite Of Passage and subsequent winner Grey Soldier on his jumping debut and should come on for the experience.

Willie Mullins' Apt Approach found only Roberto Goldback too strong in a Grade Two at Leopardstown and a repeat performance will suffice in the P2P Weekly In The Irish Racing Post Novice Chase.

Whatuthink also has his sights lowered and is a serious threat if he can recapture his hurdling form, while Jagoes Mills is on the upgrade and can't be ruled out either.

The Willie Mullins In The Irish Racing Post Maiden Hurdle lacks a representative from the County Carlow trainer, and it looks a good opportunity for Limerick runner-up Mr Clyde to go one better.

That said, Paddy Corney brings a fair level of form from between the flags, and Green Mining has bits and pieces of form that would put him in with a shout.

The biggest prize of the afternoon goes to the winner of the Bloodstock Weekly In The Irish Racing Post Handicap Hurdle and Rock Diplomat will be fancied to gain some compensation for getting rid of Paddy Flood when favourite for the Punchestown Grand National Trial.

High Fidelitay came to grief early on in the same race and goes to post for the Irish Racing Post Handicap Chase, where Saddlers Storm will present a stern test, while the Irish Racing Post Handicap Hurdle sees L'Oiseau De Feu attempting to supplement his victory over course and distance in December.
