Captain faces tough Naas comeback
Tuesday, 24 November 2009 15:46Eddie Harty is pleased to be getting Captain Cee Bee back on the track at Naas on Wednesday -his first run in just over 18 months.
The eight-year-old, owned by J P McManus, has been plagued with problems since he was pulled up at Aintree in April 2008, just a month after he defeated Binocular in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
However, he is now ready to make his debut over fences in the two-mile Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase even though Harty admits conditions will not be perfect.
'I'm delighted he's back. He's been working well and is in good nick,' said the Curragh trainer.
'Conditions are not ideal obviously, but we need to get him out there and see how we go. He's been back since the early autumn and has been schooling well.
'I'll sit down and have a look at the opposition but they are always tough races. Getting him out there is the main thing at the moment.'
Noel Meade's 2006 Sun Alliance Novices' Hurdle winner Nicanor is among a maximum field of 18 that also includes the Willie Mullins-trained Apt Approach and Colm Murphy's Zaarito.
