Murtagh in Dundalk fall

There was a nasty incident in the Oriel Handicap at Dundalk as Johnny Murtagh's mount, Hurricane Alley, fell and brought down Queen Althea.

Murtagh was attended to immediately on the track and paramedics applied a neck-brace before placing him upon a stretcher.

'He's conscious. They put him in a neck-brace as a precaution and he was complaining about being sore on his left side,' said Murtagh's agent Eddie Byrne.

Murtagh was later reported to have been mobile, with his injuries not as bad as first feared.

The race was won by the Ger Lyons-trained Royal Entourage.
