Leger hero resumes at Sandown

Conduit is all set to make his eagerly-awaited seasonal debut in the Blue Square Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown on Thursday.

The St Leger and Breeders' Cup Turf hero, trained by Michael Stoute, heads a field of 13 declared for the Group Three contest over 10 furlongs.

It will be the first time the colt, owned by the Ballymacoll Stud, has tackled this shorter trip since he won a handicap at Epsom on Derby day last June.

Smokey Oakey, who took the prize for co-owner actress Dame Judi Dench and trainer Mark Tompkins 12 months ago, goes for glory again.

The line-up also includes the John Gosden-trained Pipedreamer, who was third last year, Roger Charlton's Blue Monday, Godolphin's Campanologist, Luca Cumani's Cima de Triomphe and Walter Swinburn's duo Staying On and Stotsfold.
