Chepstow goes ahead despite fire

Today's meeting at Chepstow goes ahead despite a fire at the track earlier in the morning.

The fire is believed to have started at around 7.30am in the sauna area of the weighing room but the fire brigade was quickly on hand to extinguish the blaze.

General manager Richard Holland said: 'The sauna area of the weighing room will be out of action today, but racing goes ahead as planned.'

Owners and trainers will be accommodated in a marquee and hospitality boxes instead of their usual bar.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has been started.
