Kauto and Noland both fine

Paul Nicholls reports Kauto Star and Noland to be in fine shape following their big-race triumphs at Down Royal on Saturday.

Kauto Star destroyed the opposition in the JNwine.com Champion Chase, while Noland showed his class in the Killultagh Properties Chase.

'They are both back and are both fine,' said Nicholls.

'Kauto Star got a great reception. It was very good and he couldn't have done any more that we asked of him.'

Kauto Star next goes for the Betfair Chase at Haydock as he builds up towards trying to regain the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup from his stablemate Denman.

There is little between the pair in the ante-post market following Kauto Star's impressive return to action, while Denman continues on the road to full fitness following a heart problem.

Kauto Star has shortened into 3-1 for the Gold Cup on Betfair, who report Denman easy to back at 5-2.

But Nicholls now has his eyes on the next major prize, the William Hill Gold Cup at Exeter on Tuesday.

'Twist Magic and Natal run at Exeter,' added the Ditcheat handler.
