Conduit handed Turf challenge
Wednesday, 15 October 2008 15:10Ladbrokes St Leger winner Conduit has been given the green light to contest the Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita on 25 October.
The Ballymacoll Stud-owned three-year-old created his own piece of history by breaking trainer Michael Stoute's long-standing duck in the oldest Classic last month.
Ridden by Frankie Dettori, the Dalakhani colt came home three lengths clear of the previously unbeaten Unsung Heroine with Oaks winner Look Here a further three-and-a-quarter lengths away in third.
'The plan is to go for the Breeders' Cup,' said Peter Reynolds, Ballymacoll's racing manager.
'It's very exciting to be going over to America with a Classic winner. If he can manage to win a race such as this after winning a Leger it would be great for his stud value. Hopefully he has enough speed for it.'
