Kauto aims to shine again

Kauto Star will lock horns with My Way De Solzen as a total of seven horses stood their ground for Saturday's Betfair Chase at the 48-hour declaration stage.

Sam Thomas will take the reins aboard Paul Nicholls' Cheltenham Gold Cup winner as Ruby Walsh misses out, having dislocated his shoulder in a heavy fall at Cheltenham last weekend.

Kauto Star will be bidding to regain the winning thread at Haydock after meeting with his first defeat in well over a year at Aintree last month, while My Way De Solzen will be having his first run since landing the Arkle in March.

Beef Or Salmon finished 17 lengths behind Kauto Star when second in this race last year and takes his chance again for Michael Hourigan, while Charlie Swan's Offshore Account will also carry Irish hopes.

Exotic Dancer and Turpin Green, second and third behind Kauto Star in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham, have also been declared, leaving Charlie Hall Chase hero Ollie Magern to complete the line-up.
