James McCarthy has finished 13th in the shot put F57/58 at the Paralympic Games.
Russia's Alexey Ashapatov won the gold with a throw of 16.20m, a new Paralympic record. Poland's Janusz Rokicki threw 15.68m for a season best and silver. South Africa's Michael Louwrens took bronze with 13.64m, also a season best.
McCarthy threw 10.70m.
Speaking about his experience, McCarthy commented: "I think in the first put, I may have had a rush of blood to the head.
"For the second one I needed to relax and start doing what I had been doing in training.
"For the third one I just went for it and that was my best throw.
"It was a dream come true to be back here sixteen years after my last games in Atlanta and to have my family here to see it."
