There were mixed fortunes for the Irish at the Irish Squash Open at Fitzwilliam.

Irish number one Arthur Gaskin had a fine win over England qualifier Mark Fuller in four games in a great match that lasted 66 minutes.

However, Ireland’s Madeline Perry, ranked eight in the world, went down to unseeded American Olivia Blatchford in five games over 53 minutes.

Earlier in the day in an all-Scots affair, Alan Clyne saw off Greg Lobhan, while in the women’s draw Egypt's Nouran Ahmed Gohar defeated compatriot Yathreb Adel in three games.

Men’s results

Arthur Gaskin (IRE) beat Mark Fuller (ENG) 11/9, 8/11, 11/2, 12/10.

Alan Clyne (SCO) beat Greg Lobhan (SCO) 11/2, 4/11, 8/11, 11/5, 11/5.

Women’s results

Olivia Blatchford (USA) beat Madeline Perry (IRE) 12/10, 13/11, 2/11, 7/11, 11/8.

Nouran Ahmed Gohar (EGY) beat Yathreb Adel (EGY) 11/8, 11/6/11/6.
