An international water polo competition is being hosted in Ireland for the first time next weekend when the EU Nations Cup is held at the University of Limerick's pool from 14–16 March.

Eight countries will take part and the Irish team, who are in Group A, will open the tournament on Friday with a match against Switzerland, followed by games against Scotland and Austria.

Group B, meanwhile, includes Denmark, Wales, Malta and the Czech Republic.

The final will be held on Sunday.
