Ireland's top badminton player Chloe Magee is into the last 16 at the Yonex All-England Badminton Championships in Birmingham.

The seven-time national champion, from County Donegal and world ranked 44, defeated Taipei's Ya Ching Hsu 22-20, 21-16.

Magee (25) had already won two matches in qualifying on Tuesday.

Magee won a tight encounter with India’s Saili Rane 23-21, 22-20 before having to come from behind to beat Russian Natalia Perminova 13-21, 21-17, 21-11.

The Donegal 25-year-old will now face China’s Hsu Ya-Ching in the main draw which includes the world’s best 28 singles players.
