Conor Lyne finished 40th in the men's slalom at the Winter Olympics in Sochi on Saturday.

Lyne posted a time of 1min03.58secs as one of the last competitors in the first run and followed it up with 1min09.71secs in his second attempt.

Having crashed out of the giant slalom on Wednesday, Lyne was visibly delighted with his time with both efforts.

Just 43 competitors completed both runs out of 114 starters.

Mario Matt took the gold medal for Austria.
