Ireland’s Shauna Bannon and Robbie McMenamy have won gold medals in kickboxing at the World Combat Games in Russia.

Both fighters beat Italian opposition in their respective finals in St Petersburg, Bannon seeing off Gloria de Bei on a 13-10 scorecard in the 60kg final while McMenamy won 12-6 against Neri Stella in the 84kg final.

The double gold medals capped a successful Games for Ireland as earlier in the week Mark McDermott won a silver medal the 74kg class while Dessie Leonard took bronze in the 63kg event.
