Ireland’s Madeline Perry, currently ranked third in the world, has progressed to the final of the Cannon Kirk Homes Irish Squash Open.

Perry, who is seeking a fifth Irish Open title, came through a tightly contested semi-final against world number 17 Jaclyn Hawkes, winning 11-8, 12-10, 11-8 in 51 minutes.

Perry now faces English qualifier Alison Waters, who dispatched second seed Laura Massaro.

Waters and Perry met in the 2009 Irish Open final, in which Waters emerged victorious.

In the men’s draw, Alister Walker will face Alan Clyne in Saturday’s final.

Walker recorded an 11-2, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4 victory against Jonathan Kemp.

The match of the day saw Clyne edge out Borja Golan 10-12, 11-13, 11-2, 11-8, 12-10 in an epic tussle that took almost two hour to complete.
