Rowing: Sanita Puspure won the C/D semi-final in a time of 7:51.69. Puspure claimed victory by almost 10 seconds. She now goes on to contest the C final (places 13-18) in the Women's Single Sculls at 10.20am on Saturday.

Swimming: Barry Murphy finished second in the fourth heat of the 50m freestyle in a time of 22.76. It was not good enough for hom to make the semi-finals.

Melanie Nocher finished seventh in her heat of the 200m backstroke in a time of 2:16.29. When you consider that her personal best is 2:10.25 it was a disappointing swim for the Belfast competitor.

Sailing: Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern, competing in the 49er class, finished in 11th place in today's race 7 and then 9th in Race 8. That leaves the pair in ninth overall.

Sailing: Peter O'Leary and David Burrows finished in 9th place in race 7 of the Star Class, and 7th place in Race 8. They are ninth overall.

Sailing: Ger Owens and Scott Flanagan  got their 470 Class event under way today. Owens is a veteran of two previous Olympics (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008), while Flanagan is making his debut in London.

The Irish duo came home 18th in their opening race and 25th in their second race. Those results leave them 23rd overall.

Dressage: Anna Merveldt, riding Coryolano, is ranked 14th overall in the Individual Dressage competition. She will know tomorrow whether she has qualified for the Special Grand Prix after the last 25 riders have competed.

Canoe Slalom: Hannah Craig finished 10th in the K1 finals this afternoon. She put in a good semi final performance to qualify for the final - but was last of the finalists after posting a time of 127.36 with six penalty points.

Boxing: Darren O’Neill's Olympics have come to an end after he lost his round of 16 bout against Germany’s Stefan Hartel.
