Oscar Pistorius and South Africa have won an appeal to compete in the final of the 4x400m relay.

The South African team were eliminated from the competition when Ofentse Mogawane fell after a tangle of legs with Kenya's Vincent Mumo Kiilu in the 4x400m heats.

However, the Kenyans were later disqualified following a South African appeal "as their runner had cut across and caused the South African runner to fall," the IAAF said in a statement.

South Africa were advanced to the final by the jury of appeal even though they did not finish the race.

The double amputeee sprinter Pistorius said on Twitter: "Thank you Lord. Emotional rollercoaster."
