Billy Twomey is currently the highest-ranked Irish show jumper.

The 35-year-old’s family roots are firmly entrenched in his native Cork where he began riding at the age of six.

Now permanently based in the UK and making his Olympic debut, Twomey had a series of superb wins on the international circuit in 2011 and was named Irish Rider of the Year.

Showjumping starts on 4 August, with the qualifiers starting at 10.30am.
