Derek Burnett (41) will be competing in his fourth Olympic Games.

In Sydney 2000, Burnett came 18th.

In Athens 2004, Burnett finished seventh in the trap, just missing out on a a place in the top six that qualified for the final.

Beijing 2008 was a disappointing Games for Burnett as he could only record a 29th-place finish.

The Longford native was awarded the spot at London 2012 on the back of his bronze medal finish at the 2010 ESC European Championships in Kazan, Russia.

He works in the field sports business and is a member of the Dublin Olympic Trap Club.

First in Olympic action on 5 August in the qualification round. Action starts at 9am.
