Mark Kenneally (31) runs for Clonliffe Harriers, Dublin. He was born and raised in Dublin.

He achieved the A standard for the Olympics in 2 hours 13 minutes 55 seconds - finishing 18th at the Amsterdam Marathon.

Kenneally started his athletics career with Raheny Shamrock AC. He has successfully balanced his pursuit of excellence in both sport and scholarship while studying at Trinity College, Dublin, initially for a BSc in Physiotherapy and currently as a PhD student in Physiology, as well as running his own practice.

He is the reigning National Senior 10000m champion and was awarded the Athletics Ireland Cross-Country Athlete of the Year title in 2010.

He will be blogging for RTÉ.ie for the duration of London 2012.

In action on 12 August. Start time is 11am.

SIGNIFICANT RESULTS:

2012: European Athletics Championships, Helsinki, Finland. 10000m - 15th.

2009: European Cup 10,000m, Ribeira Brava, Madeira - 18th.

2009: World Cross Country Championships (senior race), Amman, Jordan - 68th.
