Triathlon: Derry woman Aileen Morrison finished in 43rd in the Triathlon. Nicola Spirig of Switzerland won the gold medal

Rowing: Sanita Puspure won the C Final in the Women's Single Sculls a time of 7:59.77 - the result sees her finish 13th overall.

Athletics: Wicklow-born Stephanie Reilly finished ninth in her Women's 3000m Steeplechase heat in a time of 9:44.77. The result means she fails to make the next stage. Tori Pena failed to record a height in the pole vault and crashed out of the competition in disappointing fashion.

Boxing: Belfast's Paddy Barnes defeated Thomas Essomba OF Cameroon 15-10 to progress to the light-flyweight quarter-finals this afternoon.

Cycling: Ireland’s sole track cycling representative at London 2012, Martyn Irvine took part in three events in the Omnium cycling.

The Newtownards man has previously won the Irish National Road Race Criterium (2010, 2011), Irish National Track Time Trial (2010, 2011), Pursuit (2010, 2011), and Scratch Race (2011).

The first day of the Omnium saw Irvine post 13.504 secs in the 250m sprint. Ìrvine finished sixth in the 30km Points Race and 15th in the Elimination Race and now sits in tenth place overall ahead of Sunday's events.

Equestrian: Cian O’Connor and Billy Twomey are through to the second round of the showjumping competition.

In the opening round O'Connor went clear aboard Blue Loyd, while Twomey and Tinka's Serenade had four faults.

Round 2 takes place on Sunday, starting at 11am and will feature 60 riders.

Sailing: Annalise Murphy moved back into the lead after the first of today's races in the Women's Laser Radial class but she finished seventh in the second race, moving her back to third place overall, with 34 points. She's just a point behind Lijia Xu and Marit Bouwmeester going into Monday's Medal Race, which is due off at 1300.

Sailing: James Espey had his final day of racing at the Games. Espey got off to a brilliant start in Race 9. He worked hard amongst the leaders of the fleet, holding his position within the top 10 and even reaching 7th as he rounded the third mark. Only at the final mark did he slip back to finish a disappointing 25th but still his best result so far.

Espey’s tenth and final race saw him finish 35th leaving him to finish 36th overall in the Laser class at the 2012 London Games.

Sailing: In the 470 Class, Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan had a further two races today. The pair rounded the first mark of Race 5 in 23rd position but pulled it back, climbing eight places, to finish in 15th. They finished in their second race of the day in 22nd leaving them 25th overall.

The 470 class resumes on Monday.

Athletics: Rob Heffernan finished ninth in the 20km walk in a personal best time of 1:20.18. Ding Chen of China took the gold medal in a new Olympic record of 1:18.46.

Athletics: Joanne Cuddihy finished fifth in her 400m semi-final but unfortunately that will not be good enough to make the final. The Kilkenny woman ran a time of 51.88 and will go in the 4x400m relay later in the week.
