Kimberly Rhode of the United States bagged the second Olympic gold medal of her career after blasting her way to victory in the women's double trap.

The 1996 Atlanta Games gold medallist regained the title she lost in Sydney four years ago to pip South Korea's Lee Bo-Na in silver and China's Gao E who took bronze.

Rhode, who took up shooting as a 10-year-old under the guidance of her father, scored 36 points in the final round for an overall total 146, one ahead of Lee who finished with 145.  Gao was three points behind Lee on 142.

Elsewhere today Bulgaria's Maria Grozdeva won the gold medal in the women's 25m pistol event. The Czech Republic's Lenka Hykova won silver while Irada Ashumova of Azerbaijan won the bronze.
