Curraheen Park gears up for a first live webcast from the venue

RTÉ.ie will broadcast live coverage the Pat Hennerty Sales Irish Laurels from Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium in Cork on Saturday 16 October.

Coverage from 9.00pm to 10.00pm (Irish time) will be available worldwide on RTÉ.ie.

Popularly known as the 'Southern Derby', this year's Irish Laurels is being sponsored for the first time by local businessman and greyhound enthusiast Pat Hennerty and there is a hugely impressive winner's prize of €35,000.

'This is a great opportunity for Irish greyhound racing to broadcast to the world,' said Irish Greyhound Board Head of Marketing, Orla Strumble.

'The one hour webcast will include features on the sport, interviews with connections of the greyhounds and with the sponsor of the event, Pat Hennerty Sales.

'We already have a strong online community through facebook and the IGB website and this exposure will raise the profile of the sport again.'
