Irish women move up to fifth

The women's Irish team have moved to fifth position in the World Championships today in a nail biting climax in their tie with Australia.

First up was Ireland's number one, Madeline Perry against Kasey Brown. Perry powered through the first game to take 11/9, methodically breaking Brown's stride to win in three straight games.

Next up was Laura Mylotte against Lisa Camiller. Mylotte fought hard but lacked her usual focus and lost in three straight games.

Last up was Aisling Blake against Donna Urquhart. Blake had a very shaky start loosing 2/11 in the first, but found her stride in the second to win the next two games and in the same fashion as her previous match, it was neck and neck all the way where Blake finally took it 11/9 in the fourth, moving Ireland to their highest position in the world rankings since 1990.

Perry - 11/9, 11/8, 11/6
Blake - 2/11, 11/8, 11/6, 11/9
Mylotte - 7/11, 7/11, 7/11
