Ahead of this weekends Killarney Rally of the Lakes, the Ulster Automobile Club (UAC) who run and promote the Easter Stages Rally have now decided to cancel their event for this year due to the lack of a Road Closing Order.

The event which was due to be run last Easter was initially cancelled due to heavy snow on their stages in Armagh and Down as the organisers felt that holding a rally in the circumstances would impact on locals and farmers

The UAC had hoped to run the event later in the year with 19 October being their preferred date, but not being able to get a road closing order from local councils, means the 2013 Easter Stages has been cancelled altogether

As a result the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship will now consist of five rounds, Galway, Killarney, Donegal, Ulster and the Cork 20 in October.

Its hoped that the Circuit of Ireland will now replace the Easter Stages Rally next year and will be part of the European Rally Championship.
