Tom Sykes is four points clear at the top of World Superbike Championship after winning both his races at the second round in Aragon on Sunday, while Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea finished third.

Sykes, the reigning champion, produced a commanding display to beat his Kawasaki team-mate Loris Baz in both races and now leads the standings on 75 points, four ahead of Baz.

The second race was particularly tight with Sykes having to hold off a strong challenge from both Baz and Marco Melandri of Aprilla Racing Team in the final laps.

Rea won a place on the podium after he came third in the first race and fifth in the second meaning he now sits fifth in the series standings.

The Pata Honda rider collided with Ducati's Davide Giugliano in the final lap but it was Giugliano who came off worse, finishing eighth.

Giugliano's team-mate Chaz Davies took fourth in the first race ahead of Voltcom Crescent Suzuki's.

And Rea’s compatriot, Eugene Laverty, endured a shaky start but held his nerve to come fifth.

A sixth-place finish in the second race leaves Laverty two points behind Rea in sixth place overall.

Sylvain Guintoli came fourth in the second race and is third overall on 64 points ahead of Marco Melandri in fourth.
