Max Biaggi enjoyed an outstanding double victory at Misano to extend his lead at the top of the Superbike World Championship standings.

Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was able to ease down on the final lap of the second race to win by 5.355 seconds from Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) and Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport).

They finished narrowly ahead of Marco Melandri and Ayrton Badovini, both aboard BMWs.

In race one, Biaggi turned in an excellent performance to win from the third row, narrowly holding off the challenge of Althea Racing's Carlos Checa on his Ducati to win at the finish.

Checa had charged from 16th on the grid to take second place, but would crash out of race two. His Althea team-mate Davide Giugliano took third in race one, but also failed to finish race two.

Today's results leave Biaggi on 210.5 points at the top of the standings, ahead of Rea on 172 and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) on 164.5.
