Less than 300 supporters showed up as Longford Town beat Wexford Youths to qualify for the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup at Flancare Park.

Youths took the lead in the 12th minute as Patsy Malone headed home a Conor Sinnott corner, but the home side were level when Gary Curran burst through to equalise in the 20th minute.

Gary Curran set up Derek Glynn in the second minute of extra time to give Town the lead and a bizarre own goal settled the tie with five minutes remaining as John Flynn O'Connor headed past keeper Packie Holden.

Gavin Doyle hammered home the rebound for Youths a minute later after his penalty kick was saved to set up an exciting finish but Town held on to progress.
