Ireland just failed to make up a two-goal difference in the second of a triple-header Test series against India, losing out 2-1 in the end.

Soundarya Yendala opened the scoring for India, when her effort was lifted over Ayeisha McFerran.

Sunita Lakra doubled the visitors’ advantage at the near post from a penalty corner in the 21st minute.

Anna O’Flanagan pulled one back for Ireland, and though they dominated most of the second half, they could not breach the Indian defence.

Ireland’s third and final test takes place on Friday evening in UCD at 6.30, as they continue their preparations for the upcoming Champions Challenge I world ranking tournament.
