Ireland have lost 3-0 to England in their international hockey Test match in Reading.

It was the first of two Tests as Ireland build towards the Champions Challenge in Malaysia on 26 April - 4 May.

Ireland went in 2-0 down at half time after Ashely Jackson lobbed 'keeper David Fitzgerald for the first, while Harry Martin got the second on a rebound.

The third goal came on the final whistle from a set piece with Jackson scoring his second of the night.

This match gave Irish coach Craig Fulton the first viewing of his charges after he arrived in Ireland yesterday from South Africa to take up his new role.

Fulton will have little time to reflect as their next match is just 15 hours away at Bisham Abbey.

He will be assessing players with a view to selecting his squad for Champions Challenge I - the FIH World Ranking Tournament in Malaysia.
