Ireland men's hockey team moved closer to a London 2012 qualification play-off with a 3-0 win over Chile in the Road to London at Belfield in Dublin tonight.
Timmy Cockram fired home from a short corner after four minutes but the Irish failed to build on their advantage before half-time against the valiant South Americans.
Michael Watt finally increased Ireland's lead early in the second half and the same player added Ireland's third in the 54 minute to complete their victory.
Their win means Ireland will head into Saturday's final pool tie against Malaysia knowing a draw will be enough to earn their place in the final.
Only the tournament winners earn a guaranteed place at the Olympics and Ireland, ranked 16, have never previously qualified.
