Ireland took on the Netherlands in the second of three training matches taking place in Alicante on Saturday.
Ireland put in a much better performance against the Dutch although again they conceded an early goal in the fourth minute when Robbert Kemperman scored from open play to make it 1-0.
It was the Netherlands who were on the scoresheet once again when Roderick Weusthof doubled his side’s lead in the 29th minute, capitalising from attacking play.
Ireland had the better of the second half and were rewarded in the 52nd minute when John Jackson hit a high reverse shot from the left of the circle to make it 2-1.
Both chances spurned chances in the latter stages as the Netherlands held out for victory.
