Ireland finished fourth in the first of two 4 Nations tournaments in Argentina after losing 4-2 on penalty strokes to India.
The third place play-off was forced into extra time after the game finished 1-1 with India equalising in the 56th minute.
Ireland had taken the lead from a penalty corner through Michelle Harvey in the 51st minute but couldn’t hold on for victory, going down in the shoot-out.
The second 4 Nations event starts on Wednesday in Parana, Argentina, featuring the same four teams that played in the Buenos Aired event.
