Coach Gene Muller has announced a squad of 18 for the Ireland senior women’s trip to Argentina in December.
The trip gives Ireland an opportunity to test themselves against top class opposition over an 11-day period.
They will depart on Sunday 4 December and return to Dublin on the 20 after facing face South Africa, India and Argentina.
Commenting on the selection Muller said: “Firstly I want to express our team's sincere thanks to ESB Electric Ireland, whose support has enabled us to make this trip.
“Now that we know we are in the Belgium Qualifier in March 2012 (17/25), our preparation time is short, and the two Four-Nations Tournaments come at the right time for us in our preparation cycle.
“We are leaving behind more than 300 test caps worth of experience with Emma Clarke, Emma Smyth, and Nikki Symmons unavailable.
“While there are no new caps in the team, these tournaments do give us a chance to see less experienced players like Niamh Atcheler, Anna O’ Flanagan, Hannah Bowe, Nicci Daly, Miriam Crowley and Nicola Evans against top class opponents before settling on our Olympic qualifying team.”
Ireland women’s squad for Four Nations competition in Argentina 4-20 December:
Niamh Atcheler, Hannah Bowe, Aine Connery, Lizzie Colvin, Miriam Crowley, Nicci Daly, Nicola Evans, Emma Gray, Michelle Harvey, Sinead McCarthy, Shirley McCay, Anna O' Flanagan, Audrey O'Flynn, Cliodhna Sargent, Niamh Small, Alex Speers (capt), Pamela Smithwick, Chloe Watkins.
