Euro hockey qualifiers confirmed

The times and dates for Ireland’s Senior Men and Senior Women Home European qualifiers have been confirmed.

It promises to be an exciting summer with the Irish Senior Women looking to make history by reaching the top tier of European basketball, while the Irish Senior Men will be hoping to build on their involvement in last season’s European qualifiers and the inaugural Emerald Hoops International Series.

The Irish Senior Women, coached by the experienced Mark Scannell, enjoyed a hugely productive first half to their campaign last summer.

They enjoyed wins over Slovenia, Switzerland and Iceland. Their defeats came in away encounters to Montenegro and the Netherlands, two sides they welcome to Dublin this summer.

They open their campaign with a home clash with Montenegro where a win would set them up nicely for the remainder of the series.

Meanwhile, the Irish Senior Men, once again marshalled by Head Coach Jay Larranaga, will host Sweden on August 15, before another visitor in the shape of Luxembourg on August 22. Their away games includes trips to Georgia and the Slovak Republic.

The National Basketball Arena will play host to two double headers with the Senior Men and Senior Women in action on Saturday, August 15 and Saturday, August 22.

Squads will be named in the coming weeks.
