Ireland's Danielle McVeigh, Leona Maguire and Lisa Maguire all won their singles matches on the final day of the Curtis Cup in Boston but it was the Americans who triumphed overall, beating Great Britain and Ireland by 12 to 7½.

The Great Britain & Ireland team made a solid start to the contest when, after the first round of four-balls and foursomes, they led 3½-2½.

The USA then took control of affairs on the second day and at the end of the day's play had moved into a dominant 8½-3½ lead.

Great Britain and Ireland won four of Sunday's eight singles matches, with McVeigh beating Jennifer Song 3 and 2, Lisa Maguire edging Kimberly Kim 1 up, and her twin sister Leona beating Tiffany Lua 2 and 1.

However, the USA's lead going into the final day always looked to be insurmountable and when Jennifer Johnson made a short putt at the 14th hole to beat Rachel Jennings 5 and 4, the home side were able to celebrate victory.
